Concrete Experience

    During this week, I prepared for the start of our survey about the historical background of Molok River and the socio-economic profile of the residents. Together with my groupmates, I met with our supervisors and coordinated with the Water Resources Management Team to discuss how we would carry out the survey properly. I listened carefully to their reminders and recorded the important instructions they gave us. After the meeting, I drafted our survey form and listed the questions that would help us gather useful information from the people in the community.

    When the survey officially started, I visited different puroks and talked to many residents. I collected their responses and recorded everything accurately. There were times when I felt tired because of the heat and long walks, but I reacted by motivating myself and my teammates to continue. I observed how each resident had a different attitude, so I tried to adjust my way of communicating with them. This helped me improve my social skills and understand people better.

    After finishing our rounds, I reviewed the data we gathered and coordinated with the team to check if we missed anything. Our supervisors and the Water Resources Management Team were very supportive, they even treated us after our work, so I felt grateful and appreciated. Overall, this week taught me the value of teamwork, patience, and adaptability. Fieldwork wasn’t easy, but I learned that with cooperation and effort, we could accomplish our goals successfully.

 

Reflective Observation

    During this week, I learned that fieldwork requires not only effort but also patience and teamwork. I discerned that working under the heat and dealing with different kinds of people can truly test one’s character. I observed how communication plays a big role when interviewing residents, as every person responds differently depending on how they are approached. I noticed that teamwork made our tasks lighter because we helped one another in collecting and recording data. I discovered that being physically and mentally prepared is very important when working in the field, especially when faced with unexpected challenges. I perceived that our supervisors and the Water Resources Management Team’s guidance was essential to keep us on track and motivated. Through the experience, I recognized the importance of cooperation and humility when working with others. I found that the more we communicated and coordinated, the smoother our work became. I grasped that success in fieldwork is not only about finishing the task but also about building relationships, learning from others, and growing as a team. 

Abstract Conceptualization

    It is apparent that conducting a community survey follows the concept of participatory research, where both researchers and residents share information to understand the community better. The principle of teamwork plays an important role because it helps make tasks easier and more organized. Research indicates that communication and cooperation lead to better and more accurate results, while it is logical that fieldwork requires observation, interaction, and proper documentation. Overall, this idea means that research is not just about collecting data but also about understanding people and their environment. 

Future Application

    In the future, I will apply the knowledge and skills I gained from this fieldwork by practicing good teamwork, communication, and organization in any research activity. I plan to use what I learned about interacting with people from different backgrounds to build better relationships in future community studies. I intend to apply the principle of cooperation and careful data gathering to ensure accurate and meaningful results. This experience taught me to be patient, observant, and adaptable, qualities that I will use in both academic and professional work.
