Concrete Experience
In the third week of our practicum, we had the interview for the HTE assignment. I attended the interview, but before that, I prepared the necessary documents ahead of time and asked my parent to sign them. However, I decided to fill them out later. On the day of the interview, I avoided on being late so I could finish early; however, due to some events, I ended up finishing the interview in the afternoon. During the waiting time, I tried to be patient, and it turned out well because I secured a spot in my preferred HTE.
Reflective Observation
I learned that patience is important because it enables us to make better decisions and avoid mistakes. I also recognized that patience is vital in a professional setting, as it allows us to improve our relationships with others and achieve our goals. During the interview, I felt nervous because I was worried that I might not be qualified for my HTE due to the many contenders and the fact that I was interviewed almost last. However, I tried my best, answered the questions honestly, and was successfully hired at the City Environment and Natural Resources Office. After the interview, I wondered about the possible scenarios in the workplace and the tasks I might be assigned. I acknowledged the challenges that my HTE may bring, and I promised myself to do my best once my duty starts.
Abstract Conceptualization
In my interview experience, the concept of Emotional Intelligence Theory by Daniel Goleman best describes my situation. Even though I was under pressure during the interview, I was able to remain patient, regulate my emotions, and focus on answering the questions honestly, which helped me succeed. This experience showed that emotional intelligence, particularly selfregulation, plays a vital role in handling stressful situations. On the other hand, this theory can be also integrated in the workplace setting, especially during moments of pressure and challenges. By practicing patience, managing emotions, and responding calmly, I can build stronger professional relationships, make better decisions, and remain effective in achieving tasks and goals.
Future Application
In the upcoming weeks, I will try to practice self-control. The logical steps would be focusing on stabilizing myself when I’m nervous, maintaining a positive mindset, and keeping my motivation and morale high so I can perform effectively even under pressure. To accomplish this, I will keep my goals in mind, face challenges with patience, and treat difficulties as chances for growth. In doing so, I can build my confidence and better equip myself to manage the responsibilities in my assigned HTE.
